Role Description

This is a remote contract role for an Aviation Publications Technician at Zero-G. The technician will be responsible for compiling data from 14-16 separate manuals and assembling that information into a presentable and searchable product.

This position is responsible for ensuring the quality, accuracy, and availability of company manuals. It has the authority to establish and modify policies, procedures, instructions, and information related to manual management, distribution, and currency.

Essential Functions:

  • Provide daily support in revising and maintaining company manuals:
  • Manage revision cycles for EAC, EAA, and EAF manuals.
  • Ensure all electronic company manuals are up to date on the company cloud.
  • Update the Shared Review Tracker throughout the revision process.
  • Coordinate the printing and distribution of required paper copies of manuals.
  • Track the return of Transmittal Revision Sheets to confirm updates to paper copies.
  • Conduct annual audits of all controlled manuals in the Library.
  • Address and resolve audit findings related to controlled and uncontrolled publications.
  • Maintain master copies and historical records of all hardcopy manuals.
  • Oversee revisions, obtain required signatures from the GOM A007 list, and distribute FAA-issued Operations Specifications for Part 119 and Part 135 GOM.
  • Maintain web-based company manuals.
  • Keep the Publications Status Board and Shared Review Tracker updated.
  • Create, update, and manage aircraft libraries.
  • Develop manuals, including technical writing from inception.
  • Update technical manuals on the FAI O: Manufacturer Manuals folder or Avantext drive.
  • Provide training support for Adobe Shared Review users.
  • Assist employees with application support and general IT issues.
  • Perform annual audits to verify accuracy and currency of manual owners' copies.
  • Audit aircraft libraries as needed.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

  • Follow all safety procedures, practices, and policies relevant to the position.
  • Be familiar with the Company's Safety Management System (SMS) and Occupational Safety Manual (OSM).
  • Contribute to the company's safety culture and report safety hazards.
  • Learn and understand Dangerous Goods Transportation requirements.
  • Maintain a clean, hazard-free work environment; report unsafe conditions to a supervisor.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to reach horizontally and vertically, manipulate small objects, and write legibly.
  • Sufficient physical ability, strength, and stamina to lift, carry, push, or pull objects exceeding 70 pounds, as required.
  • Ability to sit for extended periods.
  • Must have functional vision, hearing, depth perception, manual dexterity, and communication skills to perform job tasks effectively.

Qualifications:

  • Proficiency in FrameMaker, Word, Excel, Access, and Adobe Acrobat.
  • Basic knowledge of illustrations and graphics.
  • Strong problem-solving, multitasking, and troubleshooting skills.
  • Exceptional attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Some post-secondary education preferred.
  • Experience in a support role with a proven track record of success.
  • Willingness to learn new programs and technologies.
  • Comfortable adapting to changing schedules, priorities, and deadlines.
  • Experience compiling complex technical aviation publications
  • Familiar with Shared Review and Sharepoint
  • Excellent understanding of Adobe, graphic presentation, jpgs, etc.
  • 3-5 years experience in aviation industry
  • Understanding of FAA regulations and presentation of cross-manual consistency, cross checking interface, and multiple live links.
  • Proficiency in Aircraft Systems documentation
  • Ability to work independently and remotely
  • FAA certification in relevant areas is a plus
  • Salary rate of $35-$65/hr based on experience.
