• ​ This job is a member of the Operations Performance and Analytics Team within the Operations Planning Division.
• Responsible for analyzing crew operations data, builds statistical predictive models and creates customized reports and PowerPoint presentations for executive leaders.

What you'll do

• Through extensive data-driven research and analysis, derive meaningful and actionable insights to improve the reliability of American Airlines’ operation
• Develop analytical solutions or predictive models using statistical and machine learning techniques – including regression, decision trees, and data mining – to extract actionable insights from large-scale datasets
• Builds optimization and combinatorics models for optimal resource allocations
• Performs advanced business analysis using SQL, Python, and PySpark to develop prescriptive operational improvement plans
• Builds and utilizes data visualization tools and software for root cause analysis
• Automates and improves current programs, processes, reports and forecasts using Azure Databricks and Teradata SQL Assistant .
• Analyzes and develops requirements and provides documentation for IT projects
• Create insightful presentations that tell a clear story and present findings with recommendation to key stakeholders and senior leadership Work collaboratively with various teams across the crew domain (Crew Scheduling, Crew Planning, Flight, Flight Service, IOC, etc.) to develop innovative and insightful solutions to improve crew performance

All you'll need for success

Minimum Qualifications- Education & Prior Job Experience

• Bachelor's Degree in Applied Statistics, Data Mining, Operations Research, Industrial Engineering, Applied Mathematics, Information Systems, Computer Science, Business Analytics or related quantitative field
• 3 years of related experience
• 1 year of experience with SQL querying and/or reporting or equivalent coursework

Preferred Qualifications- Education & Prior Job Experience

• Master's Degree in Applied Statistics, Data Mining, Operations Research, Industrial Engineering, Applied Mathematics, Information Systems, Computer Science, Business Analytics
• Programming experience with Python, Aviation experience

Skills, Licenses & Certifications

• Knowledge of data processing/manipulation languages such SQL, Python, PySpark in large database environments
• Highly proficient in use of Microsoft Office software, including, Excel, Word and PowerPoint
• Excellent project management and organizational skills, with attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects on an ongoing basis
• Excellent quantitative and analytical skills with an aptitude for problem solving
• Ability to work effectively, meet deadlines, and shift priorities appropriately in a fast paced, dynamic work environment with great attention to detail
