Job Description:

We are seeking a highly skilled SQL + Python Developer with 4-8 years of experience to join our team in New York. In this role, you will be responsible for developing and maintaining data-driven solutions that optimize the performance of backend systems and enhance business intelligence capabilities. Your focus will be on writing efficient SQL queries, data modeling, and building data pipelines using Python to support key functions within the capital markets domain.

As a SQL + Python Developer, you will work closely with data analysts, engineers, and other business teams to deliver high-quality solutions. The role requires onsite presence in New York and a face-to-face interview.

Responsibilities:

  • Database Development: Write and optimize complex SQL queries, stored procedures, and views for large-scale datasets to support data extraction, transformation, and analysis.
  • Data Engineering: Build and maintain data pipelines using Python to automate data workflows, enhance data processing efficiency, and integrate various data sources.
  • Collaborate with data analysts and business stakeholders to identify data requirements and provide actionable insights.
  • Work on designing and implementing ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes to support data integration across multiple systems.
  • Perform data cleansing and validation to ensure high data quality and consistency.
  • Develop and maintain data models to support analytical and reporting needs in the capital markets domain.
  • Troubleshoot performance issues related to databases and Python applications and optimize for speed and efficiency.
  • Design and implement data-driven solutions to provide insights into financial trends, trading systems, and other business functions.
  • Work within an Agile environment, participating in daily stand-ups, sprint planning, and code reviews.
  • Ensure data security and compliance with industry regulations, particularly in relation to financial data.

Requirements:

  • Experience: 4-8 years of hands-on experience in SQL development and Python programming, with a focus on backend data systems.

Technical Skills:

  • Strong proficiency in SQL (writing complex queries, performance tuning, and creating stored procedures).
  • Experience with Python for data analysis, scripting, and developing data pipelines.
  • Familiarity with data integration tools and frameworks such as Apache Airflow, Pandas, and NumPy.
  • Experience working with ETL processes and data warehousing solutions.
  • Strong understanding of database management systems like Oracle, MySQL, PostgreSQL, or SQL Server.
  • Knowledge of data modeling, data lakes, and Big Data technologies (e.g., Hadoop, Spark) is a plus.
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform.

Domain Expertise: Experience in the capital markets or financial services industry is highly preferred. Knowledge of financial data systems, trading platforms, and market data is a significant advantage.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with data visualization tools such as Tableau, Power BI, or Looker.
  • Experience working with cloud-based databases or data storage solutions.
  • Knowledge of financial products and instruments in the capital markets domain.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).
