Description Title: Intern Department: Lending (Real Estate) Classification: Non-Exempt Reports To: Real Estate Loan Supervisor Hours: Internship up to 15 hours per week Pay: $19.00 Internship Overview: Foothill Credit Union's internship program provides college students with hands-on experience in financial services, with a focus on
real estate lending . The Intern will gain practical knowledge and skills essential for a career in lending, working closely with experienced professionals on key projects and daily operations. Time permitting, interns may also have the opportunity to explore other departments within the credit union. Foothill Credit Union's mission is to improve members' financial health by providing an exceptional member experience. Interns are expected to represent the Credit Union in a professional, helpful, and friendly manner.
Essential Duties, Training, and Responsibilities: The
Real Estate Lending Intern will support the
Lending Department , collaborating with the team on key functions related to mortgage and home equity loan processing. The intern position duties, responsibilities, and requirements represent the basic responsibilities during the internship cycle. However, supervisor(s) may assign additional functions and requirements as deemed appropriate.
Loan Processing And Support Assist with mortgage loan file preparation and documentation review
Identify and resolve conflicting information on real estate applications
Communicate with members to update and/or resolve issues that may arise
Review appraisals and title reports to ensure a solid lending position in collaboration with the supervisor
Keep Real Estate Supervisor informed of area activities and any significant issues
Basic loan filing responsibilities for legal loan documents retention
Other assignments requiring the Real Estate Loan Processors' expertise and/or knowledge may be assigned
Training And Development Receive formal and informal training through online modules, hands-on practice, and direct mentorship
Participate in structured feedback sessions to enhance learning and performance
Requirements Qualifications and Skills Requirements: - Currently enrolled in a finance, business, real estate, or related college program
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work with financial data
- Interest in real estate lending, mortgage processing, and financial services
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a professional setting
- Proficient in verbal, written, and presentation skills
- Aptitude for detail and ability to perform in a fast-paced and changing environment
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
- Self-motivated and frequently demonstrates initiative
- Ability to use discretion when handling confidential information
- Solid interpersonal and customer service skills
- Excellent time management skills and reliable attendance
- Ability to maintain a professional image
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite
