Plant Buyer

Opportunity Summary :

We are excited to be partnering with a high integrity global Chemical Manufacturing Company who is committed to providing high quality and innovative products to their customers in their search for a Plant Buyer at their plant located near Toledo, OH . The Plant Buyer is responsible for raw material procurement and inventory for plant operations. This role ensures optimal inventory levels to meet production and customer demands using the ERP system, and maintaining raw material accuracy through effective cycle count practices. The Plant Buyer also builds strong supplier relationships to support business objectives.

Essential Functions :

• Raw Material Procurement - Procure raw materials, manage purchase orders, and ensure quality, on-time delivery at agreed pricing. Includes timely PO entry, confirmation retrieval, supplier communication, and execution of sourcing requirements.
• Inventory Management - Maintain optimal raw material inventory, monitor consumption rates, recommend safety stock adjustments, and balance costs, inventory levels, and supply chain risk.
• Supplier Performance - Ensure accurate supplier delivery data, address performance concerns, document corrective actions, and escalate issues to the Strategic Purchasing Manager as needed.
• Cost Reduction Initiatives - Implement and support cost reduction projects and develop new initiatives for raw materials.
• Indirect Materials Procurement - Purchase packaging, operating supplies, janitorial items, personal protective equipment, and other plant services as assigned.
• Inventory Accuracy - Maintain accurate raw material and trading goods perpetual inventory records, audit cycle counts, resolve material shortages or discrepancies, and manage aged or imperfect inventory disposition.
• Invoice Review and Correction - Address parked/blocked invoices and resolve goods receipt errors.

Requirements :

• High school diploma required, bachelor’s degree in supply chain or related field preferred.
• 3-5 years of purchasing experience required.
• Experience with MRP systems is required, with preference given to SAP and Business Warehouse.
• Chemical industry experience preferred.
• APICS Certification is preferred.
• Strong collaboration skills with site personnel, corporate teams, and employees at all levels, including management, to support all Buyer activities.
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to efficiently and effectively convey information.
• Strong organizational and planning skills.
• Self-starter. Able to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Attention to details - understands the critical nature of accurate and thorough work; highly organized and proactive.
• Ability to manage and prioritize multiple workstreams without becoming overwhelmed.
• Must have a valid driver's license.
