Job Description

Assistant Facility Operations Manager:

Under the general direction of the Sr. Facility Operations Manager (FOM) and supervision of the Director of Capital Infrastructure and Facilities Management, the Assistant Facility Operations Manager supports daily field operations for assigned Districts. Responsibilities include coordinating with service contractors, conducting site visits, recommending facility improvements, and validating basic infrastructure performance and maintenance. This position aids in vendor accountability, invoice validation, seasonal maintenance tracking, and constituent relations. The role provides on-site support aligned with district standards while building strong relationships with contractors and client stakeholders

The Assistant Facility Operations Manager is housed within the Capital Infrastructure and Facilities Management Department and reports to the Director of Capital Infrastructure and Facilities Management while working closely with the Assistant Director and Facility Operations Manager. This position supports the daily field operations of assigned Metropolitan Districts, including contractor coordination, site inspections, infrastructure oversight, and constituent responsiveness

Major Responsibilities:

Field Support & Oversight

  • Conducts site observations based on approved schedules and standards
  • Prepares and submits detailed visit reports and notes to the Facility Operations Manager
  • Identifies and recommends maintenance or capital improvement needs
  • Performs basic repairs on district property within the scope and approval of the FOM

Service Contractor Coordination

  • Coordinates with service vendors during on-site visits
  • Observes service quality and provides recommendations for vendor improvements or changes
  • Assists in validating work completion for invoicing and reporting purposes

District Presence & Community Relations

  • Acts as an on-site representative for community or constituent inquiries
  • Removes illegal signage, remediates minor vandalism, and ensures public-facing spaces align with district expectations
  • Builds relationships with district board members, residents, and contractors

Administrative Support

  • Aids the FOM in scope creation, site mapping, and field record documentation
  • Validates service invoices and assists with Accounts Payable coordination
  • Supports the creation and monitoring of annual district budgets

Infrastructure Monitoring

  • Monitors non-potable irrigation systems and other mechanical assets to ensure functionality
  • Reports performance issues or malfunctions to the FOM for further investigation

Interdepartmental Relations

  • Works closely with the accounting department to provide financial support related to facilities operations
  • Works closely with District Administrators and District Managers to problem-solve and coordinate transactions and requests
  • Works closely with the Capital Team to ensure proper asset recording and/or transfer of assets

Other Duties as Assigned

Education & Experience Required:

  • High School Diploma or G.E.D
  • 1-year general work experience

Education & Experience Preferred:

  • 1 year of experience in public works, facilities management, property/landscape operations , or contractor oversight
  • Associate's degree in project management, landscape management, or a related field preferred
  • A combination of relevant experience and education will be considered in lieu of formal qualifications, provided the candidate demonstrates the required skills and knowledge for success in the role

  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 25 pounds on a regular basis

Driving Requirements:

  • Must possess a valid Colorado Driver's License and maintain a clean driving record to operate company-owned fleet vehicles
  • Must have the ability to travel locally as needed; if using a personal vehicle, the employee must provide proof of current liability and property damage insurance
